How to make Cat’s Head Tuna Pies
Ingredients:
- 1 bag puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tins of tuna (salt water)
- 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon zest
Directions:
- Set the oven to 375 degrees F / 190 °C
- In a bowl, mix together the tuna, mayonnaise and lemon zest. Mix to combine and mash up the tuna into smaller pieces with a fork.
- Roll out the pie dough to a 2 mm thickness. Use a cookie cutter to cut out 20 cat head shapes.
- Set half of the cut pie pieces to the side. Brush the border of the remaining pieces with egg wash. Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of the tuna pie filling into the center of each. Top them with the remaining pie dough pieces.
- Press the edges together with the tines of a fork to seal.
- Place the pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake 20-22 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before eating.
