The Cats Of Mount Nelson At Belmond Hotel

With its classic royal pink aesthetic and beautiful view of Table Mountain, Mount Nelson serves its afternoon high tea on the porch of the lounge, where you are most likely to interact with its cats.

“Tea at the Nellie” is inspired by a black feline named Nellie, Mount Nelson’s house cat. With more than 60 leaf teas, delicious blends of coffee and my personal favourite, the hibiscus tea. Serve it with sweet and savoury snacks and desserts which makes this experience phenomenal.

Mount Nelson also has an amiable ginger cat roaming around the garden, pleasantly friendly towards guests. Ready to be a tiny tour guide, allowing me to follow behind him as he leads me to the back garden of the hotel to chase some squirrels in a tree.
